Shima, the Girl Who Colored the Silence and Created Dreams
Shima was only seven months old when her mother realized that she could not hear. While for others life began with laughter and lullabies, for her it began in profound silence.
However, this silence was not an end to dreams. Her mother, a determined and compassionate woman, had only one wish: for Shema to live a normal life free from exclusion due to her deafness. Shima first attended Baghcheban School, a specialized school for deaf children, to learn basic skills. However, her mother consistently sought to place her in mainstream schools, where she could learn and play alongside hearing peers.
A bright and hardworking girl, Shima entered mainstream schools with her mother’s support, opening a new chapter in her life. Not only did she keep pace with her peers, but she also stood out for her perseverance, eventually graduating with a degree in graphic design. Yet from a young age, she carried a desire for something else in her heart: to build her own business, create her own world, and live independently. Shima started by crafting wooden boxes, decorative stands, and paintings—but her ambitious spirit craved more. The spark that ignited her true dream came from an unexpected place.
One ordinary day, while Shima was at the market buying supplies for her work, she got into a quarrel over a parking spot—with a woman who happened to be an expert in wood painting. Their acquaintance began with a frown but blossomed into smiles and shared creativity. Shima learned to transform wooden boxes and trays into canvases, expressing herself through color. What set her work apart was the elegance and taste with which she applied her techniques to wood.
Over time, Shima established a small workshop—a space filled with the scent of wood and paint, where her deaf brother now works beside her, communicating and creating with their hearts and hands, without the need for words.
Shima’s journey continues with a new dream:
She dreams of having a small shop in another country, where she can showcase her artistic creations to the world—a place where people can come, see, touch, and take home a piece of the silent art of love and life.
Shima is not just an artist; she is a living reminder that sometimes the loudest voices speak through silence.
